BUENA VISTA, Va. (WDBJ7) The governor says there are thousands of unfilled high tech jobs in Virginia.
To address that schools like Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista are broadening their computer courses. This class is studying cybersecurity. It's the first year Parry McCluer has offered the course.
"In the workforce that my students are getting ready to walk into, everything they do will be based around technology," says Donna Frazier, the Business and Information Technology Teacher. "And they have to know -- it's going to be a basic skill requirement."
The course is taught in conjunction with Dabney S Lancaster Community College, so the students also get college credit for their work.
