UPDATE: Authorities identify Pittsylvania County man killed following tree-cutting accident

Authorities have identified a man killed in a tree-cutting accident in Pittsylvania County.

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office, Wallace Teague, Sr., 67, of Axton was struck by a tree limb.

Teague's body was taken to SOVAH Health Danville for a viewing by the Medical Examiner.


A Pittsylvania County man died Wednesday morning while he was trying to cut down a tree.

Pittsylvania County sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel were called to a home in the 2100 block of Campview Road Wednesday morning.

According to deputies a man was cutting down a tree on private property when the tree fell on him.

The injured man was dead when emergency personnel arrived at the accident site, according to deputies.

No foul play is suspected. Deputies declined to confirm the name of the man who died.
