LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) An update on Liberty University's football stadium expansion project:
The Planning Commission will recommend City Council allows the conditional use permit needed for the project. At a public hearing today, no one spoke opposing the project.
The expansion would boost the stadium's capacity to twenty five thousand spectators and allow LU to rise to the FBS subdivision for football.
"Liberty is doing everything they can to address impacts from it. So, staff had no issues with the proposal," said Tom Martin, City Planner. "And hopefully it will go smoothly."
Moving forward, Liberty will conduct a traffic study on a game day to assess any more concerns. City Council will make a final decision in October.
