A man has been arrested after multiple police agencies set up a perimeter several blocks wide in southeast Roanoke.

Neighbors tell WDBJ7 they witnessed a man in a white tank top with reddish hair being pulled from underneath a porch at a home in the 1500 block of Tazewell Avenue.

A person inside the home described what she saw to WDBJ7's Christian Heilman.

"Police had him cornered under there and they got him out I came back through and I made sure my nieces got upstairs and I made sure my nieces were safe and my cousins baby," Tina Atkins said.

"And after that I don't know because we stayed out there until police came out front and got whoever they were looking for," Atkins said.

Right now it is not clear why the man was taken into custody.

The U-S Marshall's Office was lead agency on the arrest, and Roanoke Police were assisting.
