Police investigate armed robbery of Big Lick Grocery

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Roanoke Police are investigating the armed robbery of Big Lick Grocery.

Police say they received the call last night around 8 p.m.of a robbery at the 800 block of Tazewell Avenue SE.

The clerk said that the suspect came into the store, pointed a handgun and demanded cash.

The suspect got away on foot.

When police arrived at the scene they found the clerk, Terry Hopson Jr., 43, of Roanoke had also taken cash from the register and put it in his back pocket.

Police say Hopson was arrested for charges of embezzlement and was transported to Roanoke City Jail.
