UPDATE: Roanoke man faces another charge after fatal hit-and-run crash in Christiansburg

A Roanoke man charged with driving under the influence and felony hit and run after a fatal crash in Christiansburg now faces another charge.

Christiansburg Police say 24-year-old Wedstanley Balisage has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The original report spelled Balisage's first name incorrectly. Police updated the media Wednesday with the correct spelling.

UPDATE:

Police have identified the driver in a hit-and-run crash and the man he killed Monday on Roanoke Street near Christiansburg Mountain.

Around 12:30 p.m., police say the suspect’s vehicle hit a car, causing that car to hit a parked vehicle. The parked car was pushed into a home.

Westanley Balisage, 24, of Roanoke has been charged with driving under the influence and felony hit & run. He's being held without bond at Montgomery County Jail.

Bobby Handy, 73, of Shawsville died at the scene of the crash. He was the driver of the first car that Balisage ran into.

Police are on the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened Monday afternoon on Roanoke Street near Christiansburg Mountain.

The crash was reported just after 12:30 p.m. Police say the suspect’s vehicle hit a car, causing that car to hit a parked vehicle. The parked car was pushed into a home.

The male driver of the first car hit was pronounced dead at the scene. No one was inside the parked vehicle and there were no other injuries.

The suspect fled from the scene but is now in custody. Charges are pending.

One lane of Roanoke street will be closed for some time for crash reconstruction.

Police are on the scene of a fatal crash on Route 460 in Montgomery County Monday.

The crash happened on Roanoke Street and was reported just after 12:30 p.m. Three vehicles were involved in the crash. Witnesses say a car was driving on 460 at a high speed when it ran another car off the road. That vehicle flipped and hit a utility pole. Additionally, a parked car was hit and sent airborne into the porch of a home.

A suspect is in custody. Charges are pending.

No one in the home was injured.

NOTE: The car in front of the home was unoccupied during the crash.
