BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ)- The Blacksburg Summer Solstice Fest is celebrating it’s 10th year with 10 days of fun.
The festivities started yesterday and run through next Saturday.
The idea is to create big incentives for residents to make their way downtown to shop and eat.
“We want to support small businesses, we really want to shop local support everyone that makes this place such a special place to live in,” said Irene Kilmer, Visitor Relations Manager of Montgomery County.
The big event will be next Saturday, with a ten hour festival throughout the streets of downtown.
Brand new for this year's Summer Solstice is a cocktail contest.
Four restaurants, Boudreaux’s, Cabo Fish Taco, the Cellar, and Champs, are all making signature summer drinks. Customers will vote on which is the best and the winner will be served at the annual festival on the seventeenth in the beer garden.
