PULASKI CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Jobless rates are dropping quickly in Pulaski County for the first time since 2008.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the county's unemployment rate for April was 4.3 percent - down more than 3 percent in just one month.
The county credits its efforts to save jobs and grow the workforce as one of its largest employers also makes positive changes.
"Volvo recently reversed a layoff order and in fact is looking at some hiring but we're seeing stabilization in all of our business sectors when it comes to jobs," said Jonathan Sweet, the county administrator.
The county also saw a spike in its sales tax. Leaders see this as a sign of better economic health.
