ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) An invasion of ducks will take Roanoke by storm this weekend.

10,000 rubber ducks are set to be launched into the Roanoke River near Smith Park Saturday for the annual duck race.

People can put money on a lucky duck for a chance to win cash prizes up to $500. Those who choose to enter will pick a random duck and then all the ducks will be released at the same time for the river to decide who wins.

It's all part of Roanoke River Fest and helps raise money for the Rotary Club and other good causes.

"All the money raised goes toward the Rotary Scholarship here in Roanoke," New Generation Rotary Club Service Chair Justin Davison said. "Also to the Bradley Free Clinic, SERCAP, just to name a few and then the Rotary Club we're always investing in the community toward all the great causes."

Roanoke River Fest is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday June 4 adjacent to Wasena Tap Room and the Green Goat off Main Street.

The ducks will launch at 1 p.m. sharp and are $2 a duck. You can find more information by clicking here.
