RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Classrooms are about to evolve in Radford City Schools to give students even more skills needed in today's jobs.

School leaders say the future of the region's work force develop their skills right here in the proposed Southwest Virginia Center for Innovation Teaching and Learning.

The six million dollar project will showcase courses including Cybersecurity, Coding and Information Technology, and Computer Science programs.

"Southwest Virginia does not have a facility of this nature. And so our children are not being given the same resources that those students have in Northern Virginia or central, or Richmond area," said Rob Graham

Similar centers closest to Radford are in Lynchburg and Charlottesville.
The school division is currently working to secure funding for the project.
