RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) A Native American Heritage Festival was held at Radford's Bisset Park Saturday.
With drummers providing the backdrop, the inter-tribal event featured Aztec and Native American dancers. People were also able to shop for authentic cultural jewelry and memorabilia from tribes of Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. Kids even got to participate in the fun, joining the circle dance.
"It's very important to the community to raise awareness and to recognize our history that we do have here," said Deborah Cooney, City of Radford's director of tourism.
Giles County will be having another Native American festival in the summer.
