Radford man charged after approaching people with firearm while intoxicated

A Radford man was arrested Tuesday after he reportedly approached people at a business in the 300 block of West Main Street, claiming to be armed.

The Radford City Police responded to the incident at 11 a.m.

Joseph David Sayers, 37, was taken into custody after being located in the 400 block of West Main Street.

Sayers was charged with abduction, assault and battery, appearing in public in an intoxicated manner and carrying a concealed weapon.

He is currently being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail with no bond.

No injuries have been reported from this incident.
