On Monday, June 6, reconstruction of two eastbound lanes of Riverside Drive will begin. The work will take place from the bridge over the Sandy River in front of the Danville Plaza shopping center to the bridge over Sandy Creek.

The project is expected to take 90 days to complete, weather permitting. During this time, eastbound traffic on Riverside Drive will be restricted to one lane and subject to a speed limit of 25 mph beginning at the intersection of Westover Drive and Riverside Drive.

The project will start at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Mount Cross Road. All north-south movement, including left turning movements, will be prohibited at this intersection. This phase is expected to take 15 to 20 days to complete, weather permitting. Access to the shopping center will be maintained, but eastbound Riverside traffic and Mount Cross Road traffic will be detoured to the intersection of Riverside Drive and Old Riverside Drive, and then westbound along Riverside Drive to complete the route.

All major traffic movements to the shopping center will be restored upon completion of this phase.

The reconstruction consists of the removal of the existing asphalt pavement and concrete base, and then replacing it with a new stone base and layer of asphalt. The new base and surface will eliminate the current uncomfortable riding surface.

White’s Construction Co. of Sutherlin is the contractor.
