UPDATE: Man identified in Roanoke County police standoff

ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

A standoff in Roanoke County ended peacefully Wendesday morning. A man has been arrested.

Roanoke County Police executed a search warrant at 9 a.m. in the 800 block of Montvue Road. Benjamin Chastang, 35, refused to leave his home after police tried to negotiate with him. Chastang surrendered just after 1 p.m. The warrant was served because as a convicted felon, it is illegal for Chastang to possess firearms. After the search, investigators found several firearms in the home.

Chastang was taken away in an ambulance.

Charges are pending.

Part of Skyview Road is closed in the area.

Roanoke County Police say the man is a convicted felon in possession of firearms. Police are still talking to him.
