Roanoke County rolls out new branding

ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) McAfee Knob is one of the most recognizable spots on the Appalachian Trail, and now it's front and center in Roanoke County's new logo.

County leaders unveiled the new marketing brand Friday morning during a news conference in Starkey Park.

Residents will see it soon on gateway signs, county vehicles and other promotional materials.

"We really hope it will elevate Roanoke County's standing in the minds of our citizens, our residents," said Gray Craig of the county's public information office, "help reinforce the community pride of where we live, the beauty we have and some of the outdoor opportunities we have."

The new brand doesn't replace the county seal, which will still be used by the Board of Supervisors and the Roanoke County Police Department.

County employees came up with the concept, and created the design for the new branding.
