Roanoke Police investigating convenience store robbery

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- A man was arrested after police say he attempted to rob a local convenience store.

According to Roanoke Police, Thomas A. Page, 21, was arrested after police say he tried to gain entry behind the register of the Shell convenience store in the 2900 block of Hershberger Road NW on February 24.

Officers say Page was not able to gain entry behind the register and fled the scene on foot.

Police later located Page and his description matched the details of a person who police say robbed an Exxon convenience store on 2825 Hershberger Road NW on February 19. Police say Page walked in with his face concealed and removed an undisclosed amount of money from the register.

Page was taken to the Roanoke City Jail following the February 24 incident.
