Roanoke Police investigating attempted robbery at Holiday Inn Express

ROANOKE (WDBJ7)-- Roanoke Police are investigating after they say an attempted robbery took place at the Holiday Inn Express in Roanoke Tuesday around 8:47 p.m.

According to Roanoke Police, two employees at the Holiday Inn Express say a person entered the hotel and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the employees. The employees were able to lock themselves in a hotel office and call police. The suspect was unable to enter the locked office and ran away from the scene.

The hotel employees were unable to identify the gender of the suspect because he or she had his/her face covered, but they were able to describe the individual as white, medium build, and between 5'7" to 5'10" in height.

Police say the two hotel employees were not hurt.
