ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) A local church leader is back from a week-long trip to Haiti.
Eric Long is the rector at St. John's Episcopal Church in Roanoke. He and 10 others from the church visited Haiti. Their mission was largely to help with medical needs.
Haiti was also hit last year by Hurricane Irma. The rector says much of the damage has been dealt with, but there's still more work there to be done.
Eric Long, St. John's Episcopal Church Rector, said, “You still see the destruction. They're still trying to get agriculture and all the rest going back at the same level.”
Two doctors, a dentist, some nurses and others worked at a school in a remote mountain town.
