Roanoke man charged with arson

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) A Roanoke man was charged with arson in connection to a recent fire, according to the City of Roanoke Criminal Investigations Bureau.

On Monday just after 9 p.m., Roanoke-Fire EMS and Roanoke Police responded to a brush fire behind a home in the 1000 block of 12th Street Southeast. Fire crews quickly put out the fire.

A second fire was reported behind another home in the same block. The fire was put out before fire crews and police got to the scene.

Charles Kesler, 36, of Roanoke was charged with one count of arson.

Roanoke Fire- EMS and Roanoke Police have responded to nine fires in that area since Jan 1.

The investigation into the fires are still under investigation.
