Roanoke police: Thanksgiving Day incidents connected

Roanoke, Va. (WDBJ7) - Roanoke City Police confirm the two incidents that took place on the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day are connected.

Around noon police were called to a home on Eastern Ave NE where they found a man with gunshot wounds. That man, Evgeniy Aleksander Prokopchak, 20, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

But while police were on scene, they were called to another reported shooting on Liberty Road. There police found another man shot laying in the front yard. That man, Morgan Nino Stamper-Dizon, 19, was pronounced dead at a hospital later that day.

Police were called to the second scene within 15 minutes of arriving at the first. While police have not provided many details, search warrants show police have been actively searching the phone records of the victims and people who may have been around at the time of the incidents.
