Roanoke police investigate after pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Sunday

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) According to Deputy Chief Eric Charles from the Roanoke Police Department, police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Sunday at around 8:10 p.m.

Police said the woman was crossing the street in the 1700 block of Hanover Avenue when the vehicle hit her as the vehicle was turning off 18th Street onto Hanover Avenue.

According to police, the driver did not stop and drove away. The vehicle was a dark colored sedan. Police said the car could possibly be a Nissan.

The woman who had been hit was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
