ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Roanoke police are looking for a driver who they say hit another vehicle and a pedestrian in the parking lot of Valley View Mall last weekend.

Tyrek Kwandell Kelly, 24, is facing charges of malicious wounding, hit and run, and child neglect. Warrants are on file for Kelly's arrest, but police have not located him. He is from Brooklyn, New York according to police.

According to a search warrant obtained by WDBJ7, a police officer on bike patrol at Valley View Mall tried to stop an Oldsmobile around 1:15 Saturday afternoon, after smelling a strong scent of marijuana coming from the car.

The driver, a black male, didn’t stop for police and took off toward Sears according to police.

Police wrote in the warrant that the driver hit “another attended vehicle” and a pedestrian. The driver then got out of the car and ran away inside the mall, police said.

In the warrant police stated they believe the driver left a silver .25 caliber gun in a sock bin at H&M inside the mall.

Police took the driver’s car to the impound lot, where it still had a strong odor according to the warrant. The windshield had also been broken because of the crash.

Police filed a warrant to search the vehicle where they found green, leafy material according to a search warrant return.

A spokesperson for the police department confirms the man mentioned in the warrant is Kelly. If you can help police find him, call 540-344-8500.
