Roanoke police make arrest in connection to recent homicide

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - Roanoke City Police officials confirmed Thursday that a man has been arrested in connection with the death of Atlante' McArthur Dent, 18.

Police recently arrested Denke Tequan Gaither, 20, of Roanoke. He has been charged with the malicious wounding of Dent but police say they will present additional charges to a grand jury in January.

Dent's body was found the morning of Monday November 27 in the yard of a home in the 2400 of Delaware Avenue NE.

Originally, police reported that they were not able to identify Dent's body. They said in a press release he did not match any of the department's current missing person cases, and his fingerprints didn't match any prints in the state and federal database.

Eventually police were able to identify Dent. More information on the case is forthcoming.
