Roanoke program looking for more business startups

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) In Roanoke, a business accelerator program is on the lookout for its next group of startups.

The organization just wrapped up mentoring for its first round of businesses. The six companies were in industries from manufacturing to life sciences. The regional accelerator mentoring program -- or RAMP -- is focused on growing new business in our region.

Mary Miller, RAMP Director, said, "Our goal is to keep companies in the area, to provide this kind of support as a young company wants to grow so they don't have to go somewhere else in the country to kind of find this kind of support."

RAMP is accepting applications through March 15, and they plan to take in five new companies.
