ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Scam callers are pretending to be deputies with the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office, according to county officials.

Officials say Rockbridge County residents have been getting calls on Tuesday from people trying to scam them out of money. The callers are pretending to be Rockbridge County deputies and threatening to arrest residents for missing jury duty if they don’t pay a fine over the phone immediately.

If you get a call like this, officials advise you to hang up and block the number from calling back. They say you should not give any money or information to the caller.

If you need help, call the sheriff’s office at 540-463-7328.
