SOVAH Health restricts visitation due to flu

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) SOVAH Health Hospital is limiting visitation due to the increase in the flu throughout our region.

Both the Danville and Martinsville campuses are asking that children under the age of 14, pregnant women, and people with chronic lung diseases not visit the hospital.

They can come to the hospital if they have a scheduled medical appointment, procedure or are seeking treatment.

"It is to protect our community basically and make sure that we are doing what's right by our community to make sure that they are protecting themselves and also their family members as well," says the SOVAH Health Infection Preventionist, Yolanda Pool.

This visitation restriction will remain in affect until further notice.

Hospital officials say it could last through April.
