$600,000 in cash, checks, jewelry stolen from Shelor Motor Mile

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Christiansburg police say someone stole a safe from the finance office of Shelor Motor Mile.

Inside were cash, checks and jewelry to the tune of $600,000, according to owner David Hagan.

He's offering a $20,000 reward. The dealership is calling customers who wrote checks Friday or Saturday so they can stop payment.

The safe was stolen at some point between Saturday night and Monday morning. Hagan said it weighs about 300 pounds, so he believes several people must have been involved. He also said someone must have known where it was located and the schedule of the dealership.

Hagan said that the $600,000 represents the business taken in on Friday and Saturday.

Police have not yet made any arrests.

Anyone with information should call the Christiansburg Police Department Crime Line at (540) 382-4084.
