Salvation Army rushes to gather Angel Tree gifts for 'Forgotten Angels'

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) There are less than 48 hours before Angel Tree families will be picking up presents for Christmas. The captain says there are 231 forgotten angels -- gifts that haven't been returned. It's a little bit higher than usual, but they're not sweating it. They sent people out to shop for last minute gifts, and they're asking for last minute help.

Monica Seiler, Salvation Army Captain, said, “This is more like a marathon. We keep going so we're at a good spot in that we know how many angels we know we have to fill. Now it's getting them filled.”

They need boys winter coats sizes 10 and up, as well as baby and toddler toys, and gifts for older girls and boys. You can drop those off at the Angel distribution center on 1796 Apperson Drive in Salem.
