Several animals killed and occupant displaced in Bedford house fire

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7)-- According to a post on the Bedford Fire Department's Facebook page, several animals have been killed and an occupant has been displaced in a house fire in Bedford Thursday morning.

The fire happened at a house at 2470 Dickerson Mill Road in Bedford. According to the Facebook post, when crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke showing from a single-story ranch home.

The fire was quickly located and put out. Fire crews also found several animals in the house and tried to save them, but they say they were unable to resuscitate them.

The Bedford Fire Department also says that the occupant of the home has been displaced.

According to the Bedford Fire Department, 17 firefighters operated on scene of the fire.
