MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) One hometown school system is collecting supplies to send down to hurricane victims in Texas.

The second grade classes at Carlisle Private School in Danville and Martinsville have collected several boxes of supplies.

Book bags, pencils, notebooks, and lunchboxes have been collected.
The teachers are trying to teach their students how important it is to help others.

"That was something my students could relate to," explained second grade teacher, Mandy Moser. "It's something they use and would understand giving."

"It's just the right thing to do that we're helping their school and if something bad happens to another school, I hope that we'll help them too," said Reece Haymore, a second grade student.

Those interested in donating school supplies can drop off items at either of the Carlisle campuses by Friday at 3:15 PM.
