LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) On Wednesday, students at Liberty University donated body cameras to Lynchburg Police Department's K-9 unit.

The gift comes from members of Liberty's Criminal Justice Club. The cameras will be mounted to the K-9s and used for training, among other things.

Officers said they're grateful for the donation.

"We're humbled by it and we have a great relationship with the folks at LU and we do a lot of stuff back and forth," said Sergeant Ryan Smith.

"It was a great benefit for us to give back and to be able to give back to someone that's been giving to us for years and we just love everyone at Lynchburg Police Department," said Katie Godwin, who is president of the Liberty University Criminal Justice Club.
