UPDATE: Suspect from robbery at Hollins bank arrested

HOLLINS, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

The suspect in Hollins SunTrust robbery this morning was found at a local hotel this afternoon.

Schanon C Weaver, 33, of Roanoke was charged with robbery and grand larceny.

Officers recovered $400 of the estimated $1700 that was taken from the bank.

No weapons were found on Weaver.

Roanoke County police are investigating a bank robbery that happened Thursday morning in Hollins.

A man walked into a SunTrust bank near the intersection of Williamson Road and Peters Creek Road around 9 Thursday morning and demanded cash, according to a Roanoke County spokesperson.

The man took an unknown amount of money and fled on foot, the spokesperson said. No weapons were displayed.

The robber was seen in a darker black Dodge Charger, possibly a 2005-2010 model, according to the county spokesperson. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

The bank is currently surrounded by law enforcement.
