The Wythe County Sheriff's Office received a tip related to the missing juvenile, which led them to a residence in the 1800 block of Reed Creek Drive. At the residence, deputies located the dead bodies of the juvenile and Rodriguez.

Wythe County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested three men related to the double homicide.

Rodriguez's sister sent WDBJ7 the following statement:

"To (those) that knew Ray you know his smile would light up a room and his laugh was contagious he loved, he was loyal, and he wanted a good future for his daughter. . He wasn't perfect but what human is? No one deserves to die especially not this way and not this young. Rays daughter now has to grow up without a father and my family without a loving brother/son. We are broken, we are hurting and we are confused. Our hearts go out to the Dawson family as Ray and Aiden were bestfriends. To the boys that took their lives, I hope you get what you deserve. Fly High Ray & Aiden this world won't be the same without you"
