UPDATE: Power restored in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Power was restored at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Hundreds of Danville residents are without power on Wednesday.

A transformer failure is to blame.

Customers in the Jefferson Ave. and Bradley Road are primarily the ones affected.

Danville Social Services is open today, but can provide only limited services due to the power outage. Citizens can contact the Social Services office at 434-203-0800. The City’s Central Collections Division at the Charles H. Harris Financial Service Center is closed for the day due to the power outage.

The public library’s main branch and the city auditorium on Floyd Street are also closed due to the power outage.

Anyone who could benefit from a cooling shelter can go to North Main Baptist Church. Call 434-799-5111 for information.

All customers should have power by 4 p.m., according Danville Public Information Officer Arnold Hendrix.
