Two arrested in Martinsville for arson of an unoccupied home

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The Martinsville Police Department arrested two men on Thursday for arson of an occupied home.

A neighbor reported to 911 that they saw two people trying to set a house on fire in the 400 block of Virginia Street on Thursday. Minimal damage was done to the home when officers arrived. The Martinsville fire marshal also responded and a joint investigation was conducted.
There was no one in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Jaqiel Edmunds, 22, of Martinsville and Christopher Odell, 18, of Danville have been charged with burning an unoccupied dwelling house (a class 4 felony). Odell is being held in the Martinsville City Jail under a $2,500 bond. Edmunds was arrested and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
