UPDATE: Two drivers charged in Electric Road accident Tuesday

ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7)-- UPDATE:
According to the Public Information Officer for Roanoke County, Amy T. Whittaker, two drivers have been charged after an accident at the intersection of Electric Road and Colonial Avenue Tuesday morning.

Whittaker says a Hyundai sedan was driving south on Electric Road when the driver attempted to turn left on Colonial Avenue. A Ford Ranger driving north on Electric Road hit the Hyundai head-on.

Whittaker says a Chevy Silverado traveling south on Electric Road was waiting to turn left onto Colonial Avenue, but was then hit by the Ford Ranger.

According to Whittaker, the drivers of the Hyundai and the Chevy Silverado with both charged in this accident. The driver of the Hyundai was charged with failure to yield right of way and the driver of the Chevy Silverado was charged with not having a valid driver's license.

According to the Public Information Officer for Roanoke County, Amy T. Whittaker, there was a three-car accident at the intersection of Electric Road and Colonial Avenue Tuesday morning. Roanoke County police say the accident happened around 8 a.m.

Whittaker says two people were taken to the hospital.

As of 9:00 a.m.. police are still on the scene.

Drivers may run into delays when approaching this area because traffic is still backed up.
