LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Police are investigating a break-in that occurred at the UPS on Woodall Road in Lynchburg. LPD responded to UPS just before 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
Employees reported that two semi trailers had been broken into and packages had been opened, contents removed. Police say there are no suspects at this time.
According to police, the people who broke in appeared to gain entry to the property by cutting through the fence that surrounds the property. It is not clear at this point in the investigation how they entered the trailers.
Matthew O'Connor, UPS Spokesperson, said UPS has a number of security measures in place. They will not disclose specifics on their security because it is an ongoing investigation.
UPS is already working to contact the shippers so the customers can receive their packages. They are calling retailers and letting them know so they can work on a solution. If someone's package was affected they will be getting a notification.
