CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- For the third straight year, a University of Virginia baseball player has been selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
UVA's Matt Thaiss was selected 16th overall-- by the Angels.
The junior catcher was just named a second-team All-American for the second-straight season.
Thaiss led Virginia with a .375 batting average this past season and also led the team with 10 homeruns and 59 RBI.
He started in all 60 games for the Cavaliers.
