MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The United Way of Henry County and Martinsville is celebrating a huge milestone - 80 years of giving back.

The United Way campaign has raised more than $36,000,000 since 1937.

All of that money has gone back into the community towards United Way programs and grant funds, like Smart Beginnings and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.

"We just need everybody in this community to work together for those that are most vulnerable, bringing companies together, people together, individuals, again, to help those in need," says United Way Campaign Chair, Dru Ingram.

This year, the campaign goal is $700,080, obviously for 80 years of great success.
