MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The National VFW Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief made a stop in Martinsville Wednesday to congratulate the state on its membership retention.

Out of 135 VFW posts, 42 retained 100 percent membership in Virginia this year.

Keith Harman, a Vietnam Army veteran, says joining the VFW was one of his best decisions. He says there is no excuse for veterans to not be in the VFW.

"You're doing an excellent job. I know this post needs a handful, ten or less, and I know that you're going to do your best to make your 100 percent membership," National VFW Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief Keith Harman said.

Harman encourages all VFW members to recruit more members and grow the organization so they can help fellow brothers and sisters.
