LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) The sports department at VMI found a way to benefit Hurricane Harvey victims through a special connection.
They shipped more than a dozen boxes of supplies to former VMI basketball coach Chris Kreider, who now works at Rice University in Houston.
Jonathan Hadra, VMI's Head Baseball Coach explains: "I reached out to Chris and said: Hey, if we could put together some things, would you be able to get it to where it needed to go to be distributed to those who needed it?"
"It was great to get the call from Hadra saying: Hey, got this idea. Talked to Chris Kreider down at Rice and there's a need, says Chris Bergmann, VMI's Women's Soccer Coach. "And it was spot on. As a staff, we were like: this is great. We've got wonderful stuff that's going to go to a great purpose."
The boxes are en route to Texas now.
