Vegan restaurant opens in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A new vegan restaurant has opened up in Lynchburg. The owners say its the first of its kind for the city.

Urbavore is located downtown on Church Street and serves traditional foods like crab cakes and burgers, but it's all made without animal products like meat and dairy.

The owners used to operate the vegetarian food truck, Cheesy Rider, specializing in Grilled Cheese.

"While we were meeting our customers and stuff we realized there are a lot of vegans here you just don't know it. So we decided that we all needed a place to eat," said Elizabeth Russell, Co-owner of Urbavore.

The owners say they will have a grilled cheese option on the menu for any of their loyal food truck fans.
