LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) The Lexington National Hunter/Jumper Horse Show is underway at the Virginia Horse Center near Lexington this week. Over 600 horses and their riders will be competing in events in several outdoor rings and indoor coliseums, many of them identical to the competitions now going on at the Olympics.
“It’s a good family activity," Andrew Ellis, show manager, said. "In an Olympic year, obviously you can’t get to Rio too easily. This is probably the next best thing to going to Rio, is you can see the horses.”
There are events both during the day and in the evening. The show runs through Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Horse Center on Route 39, just outside Lexington.
