BLACKSBURG, Va., (WDBJ7) -- Today marks the 11th anniversary of the tragedy at Virginia Tech, and instead of a Day of Remembrance, it was more of a weekend.

Virginia Tech held many events over the weekend in honor of the lives that were lost in the shooting.

They had the 3.2 for 32 race around campus as well as a candle light vigil last night.

Many public figures as well as the university have turned to social media to pay their respects to the families and victims of the April 16 tragedy.

Gov. Ralph Northam said "Let’s commit to do everything we can to keep our families and communities safe."
