Virginia Tech volleyball players give toys to Carilion Children's Hospital

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Some kids at Carilion Children's Hospital will be getting presents this year thanks to the Virginia Tech Volleyball Team.

Some of the players dropped off the gifts to be handed out during the holidays.
They had been collecting them at games throughout the year as part of a senior project.

One of the players says student athletes are given so much, so it's important to give back.

Mandy Powers, Virginia Tech Volleyball Player, said, “For us to be able to meet with these kids and meet with someone who gives so much to give back especially during the holidays is so important.”

Sarah Kress, Carilion Children's Hospital, said, “Getting a toy isn't just a toy. It means a lot more to a child. It's a little bit of magic. It helps them feel special.”

The toys are given to kids in the children's hospital, emergency room, and others who are going through serious surgeries throughout the entire year.
