HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- A Virginia officer is being praised on social media after he rescued a kitten during a traffic stop.

According to a Twitter post by the Henrico Police Department, Officer McGuire made a routine traffic stop along Interstate 64.

That's when he noticed a frightened kitten in the median.

He left his patrol car, tracked down the kitten and pulled it from under some straw.

In the bodycam video released by the department, you can hear McGuire letting the driver he pulled over go with a warning to slow down in the future.

Then he returns to his quad car and wraps the kitten in a towel.

He lets dispatch know he "captured the kitten" before taking it to animal control.
