A Martinsville woman says she was on her way to a basketball game when she bought a lottery ticket and won the top prize.

Jamiee Hairston says she was waiting in line at the register and thought, "maybe I should try a ticket," she recalled.

According to Virginia Lottery News, Hairston bought a $32,000,000 Cash Payout game ticket from the store, scratched it and revealed a $750,000 top prize.

The $32,000,000 Cash Payout game is one of the dozens of Scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $10 to $750,000. She’s the first person to claim the top prize, which means three $750,000 prizes remain unclaimed in this game.

"I just threw the ticket down on the floor because I didn't believe it," she said.

Hairston, who works in the healthcare industry, said she has no immediate plans for her winnings.
