BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Visitors got a taste of the past Saturday, literally.
The Bedford and Franklin Heritage Trail hosted a tasting tour of four historic landmarks in Franklin and Bedford County.
One landmark was the Jubal Early Homeplace, where visitors could meet costumed interpreters, And get a taste of pinto beans and cornbread -- cooked just like they did back in the 1800s.
"I think it's important for people to understand the history of their counties and also it's a good tourist attraction, we want to bring people into the counties," Frank Chrzanowski, Heritage Trail community member, said.
Those who attended got to go back in time at Big Otter Mill, Historic Avenel and the Hook-Powell Moorman Farm.
Money raised from the event will go back into restoring and preserving the historic sites.
