Tobacco company announces expansion in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) JTI Leaf, or Japan Tobacco, announced new facilities at its Danville location on Thursday morning.

The company has invested more than $5 million in the 110,000 square foot expansion, and the company is set to spend an additional $3 million for new equipment.

The expansion is part of an existing processing space and is meant to provide storage for green and processed leaf tobacco.

JTI has been in Danville since 2009.
