DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) College students in Danville are spending the week serving their community.

Averett University, Danville and Piedmont Community Colleges have partnered with 25 different businesses and organizations for "A Week to Engage."

WDBJ7 caught up with some students on the Averett tennis team at God's Storehouse Tuesday.

The students helped clean and organize donations.

"At Averett, we think that helping people is part of our way of doing good for the society. It's not only about sports or studying. It's also about helping other people and be as much engaged as you can with the community," Averett University senior and tennis athlete Nicolas Quevedo said.

The goal is for students to build relationships with the community and volunteer regularly.
